Day Nineteen

Just Needing Home

One Day to Go

Some days on a bike are all about chasing the next adventure. Other days are simply about getting closer to home. Today was definitely one of those days.

I left early this morning with one goal in mind: keep moving and get as close to home as possible. It turned into one of the longest days I've ever spent in the saddle.

The journey included the ferry from Calais to Dover. As the White Cliffs of Dover came into view, it was a special moment. After being away, seeing those famous cliffs felt like much more than another landmark. It meant I was back on home soil, and home was finally within touching distance.

From there, it was simply a case of putting my head down and keeping the wheels turning. Every mile felt a little harder than the last, but stopping was never an option.

Fourteen and a half hours after setting off this morning, I finally reached the Bike Shed. It felt good to stop for a while, take it all in, and realise that this incredible journey was almost over.

Rolling into my hotel car park for the final night of the trip was a feeling that's hard to describe. Completely shattered, running more on determination than energy, but I made it. Just one more sleep, and tomorrow I'll be riding the final stretch home.

day 19 (2)

Looking back on this trip, it's not just the miles I'll remember it's the people. Along the way, I've met some truly wonderful people whose kindness, encouragement, and conversations made this adventure even more memorable. Those moments often mean just as much as the places you visit.

After such a long and exhausting day, there's no better feeling than knowing that this time tomorrow I'll be in my own bed. That thought alone kept me going through the final miles.

As this adventure draws to a close, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has followed my journey, sent messages of support, and encouraged me along the way. Your words kept me smiling through the toughest moments.

One day to go. One final ride. Then home.

Sometimes the best part of any adventure isn't the destination you've been chasing it's the feeling of returning to where you truly belong.
