Day 14 – Sunshine, Storms & Soaked Kilts

Day 14

Day 14 delivered everything from peaceful mountain roads and stunning Swiss lakes to one of the wettest rides of the trip!

Starting in Malbun, I travelled via Lake Walensee, Lake Zurich, and Winterthur, before finishing in Böblingen, Germany.

Distance: 291 km

Riding Time: 7 hours 1 minute

The day began cool and overcast after an evening of thunderstorms, before clearing into warm sunshine with temperatures between 21°C and 28°C. The scenery around Switzerland's lakes was simply breathtaking.

Then, with just one hour left to ride, the weather turned dramatically. Torrential rain arrived without warning, leaving both me and my kilt completely soaked!

Not every ride is sunshine and blue skies—but it's the unexpected moments that become the best stories. Another unforgettable day on the road.
