Anger - Pyrenees
What a Journey so Far.
Today's journey was a long one, covering 463.6 km from Angers to the Périgueux, travelling via La Rochelle and Bordeaux. Setting off at 8:36 am, I finally reached my destination at 3:21 pm. It was a day spent watching the scenery change mile by mile, from rolling countryside to vineyards and, eventually, the magnificent backdrop of the Périgueux
The journey was made even more memorable by the intense heat. At one point, the temperature climbed to a scorching 42°C, making every stop an opportunity to cool down, stretch my legs, and enjoy a cold drink before getting back on the road. Travelling in those conditions certainly tests your endurance, but it also encourages you to slow down and appreciate the journey.
What has stood out most, though, hasn't been the distance or even the weather it's been the people.
Throughout the day I met some genuinely lovely people. Whether it was a friendly chat at a service station, exchanging stories with fellow travellers, or simply sharing a smile while talking about the relentless heat, each encounter made the journey feel that little bit easier. It's amazing how a few moments of kindness from complete strangers can leave such a lasting impression.
Travel isn't just about reaching a destination. It's about the experiences you collect, the places you pass through, and the people who become part of your story, even if only for a brief moment.
So yes, today was hot 42°C hot. It was a long drive, and by the time I arrived in the Périgueux, I was more than ready to relax. But it was also a day filled with beautiful scenery, unexpected conversations, and reminders that some of the best parts of any journey aren't planned at all.
