Day Eight

Conquering the Heat From the Pyrenees to Barcelona

The day began in the peaceful mountain village of Bruguera, where I prepared for another incredible ride through some of Catalonia's most breath taking scenery. My route would take me through Roca de la Creu, Rotllan, Campdevànol, the spectacular Monestir de Montserrat, before finishing the day in the vibrant city of Barcelona.

Leaving Bruguera early, I was surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes and quiet winding roads. The morning was perfect for riding, with fresh air and incredible panoramic views stretching across the mountains. Every bend revealed another picture-perfect scene, making it impossible not to stop and capture the moment.

As the route descended into the countryside, the roads became a Biker's dream. Long sweeping bends, scenic country lanes, and open stretches of road made for an unforgettable ride. The changing landscapes offered endless opportunities for photos and video, and I made the most of every chance to capture the journey.

By the afternoon, the biggest challenge of the day had arrived the intense Spanish heat. Temperatures climbed to between 39°C and 42°C, making this one of the hottest days of the entire trip. Even with the wind while riding, the heat was relentless, and every stop became an opportunity to cool down, rehydrate, and prepare for the next stretch of road.

Day8.

One of the day's highlights was arriving at the magnificent Monestir de Montserrat. Set high amongst the famous jagged mountain peaks, the monastery is an incredible sight and one of Spain's most iconic landmarks. The dramatic scenery and peaceful surroundings made it a place worth taking time to explore, while capturing plenty of footage to remember the visit.

The final part of the journey brought me into the busy streets of Barcelona. After spending most of the day riding through mountains and countryside, arriving in one of Europe's most famous cities was a completely different experience. The traffic, energy, and atmosphere signalled the end of another memorable day on the road.

By the time I parked up, I had covered 202.7 kilometres in 7 hours and 7 minutes. It had been a demanding day thanks to the extreme temperatures, but the incredible roads, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable visit to Montserrat made every kilometre worthwhile.
