Famous Australian 90 mile straight
Day 16
31-12-2025 | Hogmanay
New Year’s Eve to all of you XXXX love to you all and thank you for following the journey ❤️
Today was a big one, so I was up early and on the road by 04:30 AM, leaving Caiguna Motel, right at the start of Australia’s legendary 90 Mile Straight. I wanted to make the most of the cooler morning and still have time to rest, as it’s Hogmanay.
The day began slightly overcast at 18°C, which made for perfect riding conditions. As the hours rolled on, the skies cleared, temperatures climbed to 29°C, and soft afternoon winds followed me west.
The 90 Mile Straight really is something special — long, flat, and endless, with nothing but road, bush, and sky. From there I pushed on through the remote beauty of the Dundas Nature Reserve, past Norseman, and through the small country towns of Salmon Gums and Grass Patch.
With just one fuel stop, I covered a total of 578 km in 9 hours and 12 minutes, finally rolling into Esperance to stop for the night. A long day in the saddle, but a satisfying one and the perfect place to see out the year.
Duration was 578 Km
