Port Lincon to Penong
DAY 12 PORT LINCOLN → PENONG 🏜️
27/12/2025
Day 12 was a clear, cloudless day in the Australian Outback. I started the morning at 23°C, and by the afternoon it had climbed to 39°C, with strong winds building through the middle of the day.
I left my accommodation in Port Lincoln at 7:30am, knowing it would be a long ride. The journey took me past Mount Dutton, through Sheringa Sanctuary, over Tungketta Hill, and on through Whyalla.
One of the most important moments of the day was stopping at Cummings Lookout, where I placed Gaynor’s ashes overlooking the ocean. That view was the best photo of the day a quiet, powerful moment of reflection.
From there, I stopped at Easton for fuel, water, and a rest before continuing through Streaky Bay and Ceduna, finally arriving in Penong, the gateway to the Nullarbor, where I stayed the night.
Distance: 483 km

12 days complete. 10 to go. Every kilometre for Gaynor.
Tomorrow, the real test begins — Penong → Nullarbor Roadhouse.
