Day Eight

Edithburgh (Near Sultana Point)

Day 08 started a bit later than usual  didn’t roll out until 8:10 am. It turned out to be a lovely dry day, really fresh and clear, but wow… very windy, with gusts up to 32 km/h.

I headed off toward Myponga, then crawled through inner-city Adelaide, which took a good hour and a bit as expected. After that it was around Port Wakefield, through Ardrossan, and a quick stop at Pine Point. From there I passed through Port Vincent before finally rolling into Edithburgh, right near Sultana Point, to finish the day.

The weather stayed beautiful clear skies, about 19–20°C, even with the strong gusts. Best photo of the day was definitely the ocean with a bird in flight 🌊🕊️

All up it was 311 km, about 6 hours and 8 minutes on the road, and I only had to stop for fuel once. A long day, but a really good one.

The ocean was wide and shimmering today, the sky clear and bright, wind rushing through everything like it was carrying old thoughts away.

Edithburgh felt open, peaceful, and grounding.

Having Gaynor’s ashes with me made this place feel even more meaningful  like love woven quietly into the landscape. Christmas can stir a lot inside, but today the sea, the light, and the space helped soften those feelings.

There’s healing in beauty.

Healing in fresh air, movement, and letting nature hold what feels heavy.

Today reminded me that it’s okay to slow down, breathe deeply, and let the mind rest for a while.

Some places don’t fix everything but they help.
